Pond Volume & Water Capacity Calculator (Litres, Gallons & m³)

Calculate exact rectangular and sloped pond water volume in Litres, US Gallons, Cubic Meters (m³), and Acre-Feet. Essential for koi ponds, fish tanks, and commercial shrimp ponds to calculate accurate chemical and probiotic dosages.

Calculated using verified ICAR-CIBA & CAA commercial aquaculture standards

How the Formula Works

Frustum Volume (m³) = (Depth ÷ 3) × [Top Area + Bottom Area + √(Top Area × Bottom Area)] Litres = Volume (m³) × 1,000 US Gallons = Volume (m³) × 264.172 Acre-Feet = Volume (m³) ÷ 1,233.48 1 PPM Weight (kg) = Volume (m³) ÷ 1,000

Why This Calculation Matters:

Accurate water volume calculation in litres and gallons is the single most critical factor for pond dosing. Applying medications, salt, or probiotics based on surface area alone leads to lethal under-dosing or toxic overdosing.

Pro Farming Tips:

  • For vertical-walled concrete tanks or rectangular koi ponds, set the Dyke Slope Ratio to 0.
  • For earthen ponds with 1:1.5 or 1:2 sloped embankments, input the embankment slope for 99% volume precision.
  • When applying formalin, copper sulfate, or potassium permanganate, always calculate based on exact net water volume, not gross bank capacity.
